Vegan Drumsticks



These vegan drumsticks are a great treat for the summer because they are savory and filling but don't contain any meat. They are tasty and full of protein, so they will be a hit at your next picnic or barbecue.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375F 190C

In a bowl, mix vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika

In another bowl, whisk together vegetable broth, soy sauce, tahini, maple syrup, tomato paste, and olive oil

Combine the wet and dry ingredients until a dough forms

Divide dough into 6 portions and shape each into a drumstick

Roll drumsticks in breadcrumbs to coat

Place drumsticks on a lined baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, until firm and golden brown

Brush drumsticks with barbecue sauce and bake for an additional 5 minutes

Serve hot and enjoy!
